You are bidding for a CLASSIC UK 50'S ROCK N' ROLL / SKIFFLE 45RPM EP by KEN COLYER'S SKIFFLE GROUP called KEN COLYER'S SKIFFLE GROUP, Side 1; TAKE THIS HAMMER, DOWN BY THE RIVERSIDE. Side 2; GO DOWN OLD HANNAH, STREAMLINE TRAIN issued on the DECCA record label in the UK in 1955, cat number DFE 6286 (BLUE AND SILVER LABEL, TRI CENTRE). The record is in excellent condition with excellent labels .The record has little wear with few slight surface scuffs and no surface scratches and plays with no jumps and clicks and a minimum of surface noise.The original card picture sleeve is also excellent with no fraying, marks, or tears.(BLUE AND WHITE PICTURE COVER). CLASSIC UK SKIFFLE from KEN COLYER with four great tracks. KEN COLYER bought SKIFFLE to the UK BUT IT WAS LONNIE DONEGAN had a huge world wide hit with ROCK ISLAND LINE and started the SKIFFLE craze in the UK which introduced FOLK and BLUES to UK teenagers, DONEGAN was a huge influence kickstarting the UK ROCK, BLUES and FOLK industry,. and responsible for thousands of British teenagers buying a guitar learning a few chords and forming groups. The BEATLES STONES, DIRE STRAITS, QUEEN, VAN MORRISON, BILLY FURY, CLIFF RICHARD , all started by taking their first fumbling steps in SKIFFLE groups, before turning to rock and roll, or the blues, or folk. SKIFFLE only lasted about a year though LONNIE DONEGAN had a long series of hits right into the 60's and was selling out venues right up to his death a couple of years back, KEN COLYER was an original and his pioneering group intruduced many an artist to JAZZ and BLUES, including ALEXIS KORNER who appears on this record and had such a large part in popularising BLUES in the UK. A little piece of recording history... RARE in decent condition, from my own collection.
