Description

KENNY DORHAM "Afro-Cuban" Blue Note Mono Vinyl BLP 1535.

This the 1955 RVG-stamped, Flat Rim, Deep Groove  Mono Vinyl of KENNY DORHAM's "Afro-Cuban" on the Blue Note Records 767 Lexington Ave NYC labels of Blue Note BLP 1535. "Ear" or "P" in deadwax.  Musicians include KD, Hank Mobley, Oscar Pettiford, Art Blakey, Horace Silver, Cecil Payne and Carlos "Potato" Valdes.

Disc features pops and ticks to varying degrees of low to medium volume over its two sides. (Some sections dead quiet.) But as with all Lexington to New York Blue Note pressings, the imperfections do not detract from this powerfully performed, engineered and pressed music. Instruments clean and full of tone, no distortion. Numerous  hairline non-feelable marks on both sides.

No Skips!

Four 1" feelable scratches on Side 1. Labels in good shape. Laminated Cover is in good shape, 5" split seam top left. 5" split top left spine. Spines, seams and corners worn. Back cover "767 Lexington Ave., New York 21" faded but otherwise clean.

This LP was play-tested on a high-end system consisting of Music Hall MMF-7.3 turntable/Ortofon Bronze cartridge, Heed Audio Elixir integrated amplifier, Heed Quasar Phono stage and Quad S2 speakers (with very revealing ribbon tweeters). Record cleaned on VPI 16.5.
