Description
For auction is KENNY DREW's "This is New", on Riverside RLP 12-236, 1957, MONO. The vinyl is VG+ or better, it has been machine-cleaned and played. There is a long mark on side-2. You can see it in the last photo, beginning at the 1 o'clock position, going right-to-left down to the label. It looks bad, but it plays great! I played the whole side, there were no "pops" and it sounded fine. So it seems more cosmetic than anything. The labels are white, not sure if this designates a "promo copy". The record has the deep-grooves. The sleeve is VG+ or better with no flaws of note. The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics. A rare record, in great condition. No reserve, starts at $75.
I was left over 5000 old jazz albums from a friend who passed away. They are not catalogued nor are they even organized. I'll be going through them a little bit at a time and putting them up for auction. I have one of those cleaning machines and I listen to at least part of every cleaned record. Everything I've listened to "sounds great", and I do mean "great". No pops, hisses, skips, etc. Great sound. Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale. As for grading, I've reviewed generally accepted guidelines, and I think my grades on the sleeves and the vinyl are reasonable. Most everything I've looked at so far is "VG+" or better. Unless I see something that "wows" me, "VG+" will be my top rating. If there are any notable flaws that make a record less than VG+, I will point that out. If I come across any "pops" or "skips" on a record that is otherwise desirable, I'll point that out. If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I don't know much about records but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material. Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
