Description

This is what I know about the record. I purchased this along with Blue Note BLP 1529 Jimmy Smith (inner sleeve 1939-1964) and Blue Note BLP 1468 Freddie Roach (inner sleeve 1939-1964).  These were all from the same owner and what I've been trying to establish as a non Blue Note expert if this Kenny Drew Undercurrent is a 1961 original or a re-release in 1966.  The sleeve & album was cellophane sealed with areas of cellophane starting to crack, tear, and break down.  In consulting with some collectors prior to opening, they stated that the 1961 was issued without cellophane, but it is possible that this was opened, played, and cellophaned. In my opinion, the sleeve was cellophaned some time ago as there is some wear spots and discoloration on sleeve (see back side bottom by writing "for Complete Catalog Write to ...").  The somewhat non-eventful video shows the opening of the cellophane and removing the album, and "no, the blade did not damage the sleeve!
The reason for opening what appeared to be a "New, never opened Blue Note album was determine the release year and whether this particular vinyl has the Deep Groove, "DG". With that said, based on what my eyes see, this vinyl does NOT have the Deep Groove, but also acknowledge that I do not have enough knowledge on what constitutes a Deep Groove. View the images and judge for yourself.  Some of the images were take with my iPhone 13 Promax and others were taken with a Canon 7D Mark II.  The iphone images better captured the inner groove.
The matrix markings on the runout groove as seen in image 2 are,   "RVG" , "BNLP-4059A",  and what collectors call the "ear" which looks  like an oval with a line, similar to a "Q".
The actual vinyl does NOT have a single visible scratch and I conservatively rated the vinyl as "Excellent" (EX), and believe other collectors could argue after inspecting that it could pass "Near Mint" (NM-)
No attempts were made to remove typical dust, the album was opened, images taken, and back in the inlay.
