SUPERB DEBUT - TYPICAL CANTERBURY SCENE PSYCH FOLK ROCK AT ITS HIGHEST LEVEL.

Really nice copy of the absolute FIRST PRESSING of this seminal prog classic from 1972. It went totally under the radar but this is a latter day classic!!! Sold zilch on first issue, only a few hundred copies, get it while you still can as this is superrare in any condition!!

Although I would describe the music as heavyprog (and believe me Steve rips it up on the electric), there are some very spacey and quieter sections that feature Dave's soft organ playing and Steve on acoustic guitar. In fact, some folks have described this album as space rock, although I think there is far too much going on each composition to call this space rock. In general, each piece features an excellent blend of heavy riffing played in unison on the bass and the electric guitar; intricate ensemble work; and more relaxed passages that feature vocals. The six pieces are highly melodic and it is clear that they spent just as much time on the vocal melodies as the fancier instrumental passages. The tracks are not too long (by prog standards) and range in length from 5'32" to 9'22" - they are all well put together and arranged. 
                                    

The absolute rarity of this album is not to be underestimated. It hardly ever surfaces nowadays. This is an absolutely gorgeous slab of early quality DERAM vinyl which is in splendid  condition!! This has a lovely deep glossy sheen!! Hauntingly beautiful songcraft!!! Immense quality psych/prog album that ticks all the right boxes and incredibly hard to find. I have twentyfive years experience in grading. It doesn't get much better than this!!

You won't easily find this ultra rare LP !!! It is a genuinely very scarce item that will shoot up in price, esp. since Chinese collectors are starting to get in now. Get it while you still can!

the audio is supreme, hardly ever any static and no clicks!!!

In all my years this is only the third time I have come across this PROGMONSTER. Sensational sound quality, I have played this through in its entirety and it was a great joy!!! NO skips or jumps. NO clicks or crackle, this is really a stunning heavy glossy jet black vinyl .The audio is impeccable. Inspected under an intense lightsource and angled.

Vinyl: EX  .  A sensational find!!! I have played this in FULL twice over> fantastic audio, a joy to listen to!! This is the true official 1st press.  I first played for a general listen and a second time for a more detailed observation. Only two small hairlines can be seen on  side 2 and one on side 1 . Otherwise this is near to pristine. This vinyl retains its fabulous deep glossy sheen and has clearly been looked after. A top vinyl!! Fantastic songcraft!! I am very glad to be able to report that this is a fine slab of vinyl without any problems at all and as such worthy of inclusion of any great prog collection.   Of course NO jumps/clicks/skips etc.

Gatefold sleeve:  VG+.  A matt sleeve that will always have a degree of wear. There is light ringwear and minor creasing near the opening, the spine has some wear although still fully legible. Still a better than average sleeve. There is no writing, no stains, no tears. The inside gatefold is just perfect!!
