KHAN Space Shanty LP Deram

1972

A supergroup album with Steve Hillage, Nick Greenwood, Eric Peachey and Egg's Dave Stewart.

An obscure album with quite a large reputation in progressive rock circles. Space Shanty is notable for being the recorded debut of Steve Hillage, the renowned progressive guitarist. Considering that the band included keyboard virtuoso Dave Stewart, then with Egg, Khan was a one-off with quite a pedigree. The music, which is a bluesier, harder rocking take on the basic Canterbury style, is mostly very good. The work itself is almost entirely composed by Hillage.

 

Vinyl condition:  NM, plays without any noise.

Cover condition:  VG+. The artwork looks clean with slightly more aging. The corners are slightly dog eared yet no crackly bends, defacing the artwork.

Gatefold sleeve.

 

I grade vinyls not only visually but by listening on my Garrard 301 carefully.
