Description
Here is the, now increasingly hard to find, Brit-soul LP from Kiki Dee - 'I'M KIKI DEE'. Killer heavyweight British Blue Eyed Soul that includes her versions of 'When We Get There', 'I Dig You Baby' and 'Why Don't I Run Away From You'.
A prime, original 60s British Soul LP that must be treasured!
This is the MONO version.
LABEL: Fontana TL 5455 Matrix stamps - (see photos no. 7, 8 and 9).
YEAR: November 1968. (UK)
VINYL CONDITION: NM. The vinyl produces a clear strong sound and has retained its gloss.I've had this LP safely stored away, un-played, for over 35 years. Once you see the condition of the vinyl you'll scratch your head wondering why I didn't grade it as MINT - but that's because - there is ONE visible mark on the vinyl (see enlarged photo no.7). It measures 1cm.The main body of this mark is on the run out ergo does not affect play.
SOUND QUALITY: Overall, superb clarity and near perfection. However, for finer detail, please note the following points - Side 1: Track 1: (Excuse Me) - There is very faint surface noise, accentuated only as it's during the quiet build up.This totally clears up the instant the song gets into its flow, a few seconds in. As the song fades into the deadwax, the faint surface noise re-emerges. Please allow me to stress - this is not the kind of surface noise/crackle you'd write to your MP about - YOU WILL BE TOTALLY SATISFIED WITH THE AUDIO PERFORMANCE OF THIS RECORD!
Track 2: (Why Don't I Run Away From You) - At the very end of the track, a couple of millimeters before the run out commences, there is a 1cm hairline mark (see photo 7 where I have zoomed in on the said mark). The main body of this mark is on the run out itself and not on the grooves of the track. In any case, unless you have the eyesight of a kestrel or falcon, you'll hardly notice it. The mark causes two light scuff noises AFTER and NOT DURING the track ergo your enjoyment of the song is not compromised. Side 2: All six tracks play with absolute clarity. However, once the tracks are over, the run-out emits the same surface noise as above for a couple of seconds.
LABEL CONDITION: NM. Blemish free.
ALBUM COVER CONDITION: EX. The front cover has a very tiny tear (3 mm) to the opening centre and the bottom right corner, that the first owner (I presume?) tried to repair by covering with clear tape (see photo no.11). Frankly speaking, the tape looks worse than the tear and you may choose to remove it at some point. Spine and top/bottom edges are clean and intact with barely noticeable shelf-wear.
