Attention all connoisseur Motown collectors!! Happy to present surely one of the very best copies of this seminal 1964 4-track extended play release! Both sleeve and record here are in tip top state with the sleeve particularly as close to pristine as you could expect for a release about to celebrate its 50th birthday next year! Please read on...
The front-laminated, double rear flipback sleeve is just jaw dropping. This may be the best sleeve left around. Superb shiny front laminate, NO creases, no nicks, splits, tears, dirt. NO writing, edge wear, corner wear or ring wear. There is just the faintest of centre label ring impression to both sides but not instantly noticeable. The laminate shines like it was made yesterday and the sleeve lies flat with NO bends, ripples, waviness or warping. A sensationally well preserved example which must grade M- (Mint Minus) and should satisfy even the most demanding top grade collector.
The labels have the ‘Sold In The UK’ text. Nothing to report here just a rich, deep blackness without writing, scrapes, stickers, residue or dirt. No damage at all and only one, possibly two thin spindle trails to just the one side only. A brilliant pair of these vintage labels!
The vinyl is similarly impressive. NO scratches or hairlines. NO embedded dirt, scrapes, dust pockets or fingerprints. There are perhaps a couple of small thin scuff lines and a bit of surface shading if tilted in to a full on light source. Essentially, though, it looks very close to new with a lovely shine and no dulling. Visually, I will grade a conservative EX+ (Excellent Plus).
IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays perfectly. By that I mean there is NO snap, crackle or pops. There are NO clicks, hiss and not even any soft ticks. Play grade is M- (Mint Minus). The run-ins are virtually CD silent and there is NO distortion, lack of clarity or loss of definition. I would imagine this has not had more than a couple of plays in its lifetime. I won’t say ‘UNPLAYED’ because if you’re not the original owner, how can you be sure? But this looks and sounds mighty fine!
An amazing example of this iconic EP. Obviously not as rare as the ‘Rock Me A Little While’ EP but in this condition, if you miss this, you may be waiting a long time for a similar example to come along.
