CULTURE STAR 7" JA, matrix: 7 GG 8271 / FDB-51-B (hard to read!) A: KING BURNETT IS HIM (I got some new info on this tune from one top reggae-expert...although the label says "Babylon Fall" the correct title must be "Is Him"...this is what other copies have written on a sticker placed over the label-printing of "Babylon Fall"...BIG thanks to Mr. JC...anyway...even this one...very very rare one...King Watty Burnett plays some nice melodica over Eric Clarke's "River Bank" or his own "Malcolm X" respectively...rasta drumming...quite obvious this came from Black Ark Studios...not too surprising if you know that Watty Burnett was somewhat like Scratch's right hand and a Black Ark-resident for a rather long period (absolutely essential reading: Peter I's interview w/ Watty: http://www.reggae-vibes.com/concert/wburnett/wburnett.htm )...another super-rare disc...and a must for the advanced Black Ark-collector!) B: VERSION (Wicked Black Ark dub-wize w/ some phase-shifting & t'ing, Omar Perry's voice to be heard faintly in the background!) ORIGINAL PRESS (NOT A RE-PRESS) FEATURE: COLOURS OF JAH RAINBOW WAX'N'SOUND: vg / vg, both sides show some wear and some surface marks, plays nicely w/ very good punch + crisp sound, but has some surface noise on A-side (must be from the pressing) and even some crackling, still sounds fine!) LABEL: shows light general wear, there's a substance like dried glue over the title on A-side only (you can see it in the scan!), NO writings/markings, NO damages, looks really nice - watch the scan, please! Something 'bout Sound + Vision: We shouldn't rely on visual appearance alone (as pretty looks isn’t all as they say) - therefore these records are graded after their visual appearance and their sound quality! I personally prefer a record with crackling but strong sound + punch to one playing clean but with surface noise from the pressing (as we find with re-pressed discs - too - often). Grading records is a very subjective thing but I try hard to be objective as a human being can be (yes indeed, this seller is a human being). THIS IS MY VINYL GRADING SCALE: EX (= really great - EX means "excellent", really...) VG (= nice, if you don't have an excellent one - by the way: VG means "very good"...) G (= playable, but you might find a better one - G means "good", but this term may be a bit euphemistic to reggae-vinyl-novices. Be realistic: a record graded G doesn't jump nor stick, but that's the best I can say about it...) P (= just a collection-filler for the hard-edged + hardest-boiled collectors + selectors + all the rudegals out there - P stands for "poor", yunno...) MORE REGGAE RECORDS FOR SALE
