KING CRIMSON – The Court Of The Crimson King Parts 1&2 ORIG Island 45 // WIP 6071 (UK, 1969)
Happy to present the first ever 7” release from King Crimson in its original UK Pink Island 1969 press. Not sure if Island ever seriously thought this was going to make a dent on the hit parade, maybe it was seen almost as a ‘sampler’ for the famous LP release of around the same time. Anyway this is a brilliant looking copy – hardly used with gleaming surfaces and a very satisfactory playback.
The labels are very fine with the inverted label matrix and the ‘E.G Music’ publishing credit – as it should be. Large centre hole – as released. NO writing, stickers, residue, tears or other damage. Great pair of these vintage pinks!
The vinyl is also a mighty fine looking example, very well looked after indeed. The only (tiny/ 1cm) blemish is a small scuff at the end of the first Side. Otherwise, this is a beautiful, shiny disc with NO scratches or hairlines, no embedded dirt or scrapes. Looks virtually mint but I’ll grade EX+ (Excellent Plus) visually. Brilliant!
IT HAS BEEN CAREFULLY LISTENED TO and plays very well. NO snap, pops, ticks or clicks. NO distortion. I did pick up slight crackle in the run-off to Side 2 but not to the impediment of the music.
Supplied in its original pink Island company sleeve which has the artist and the title written to the top right corner of one side but is otherwise in fabulous condition.
Well above average copy of this seminal UK progressive release!
