Here for auction is a lovely example of the iconic studio album by KING CRIMSON titled IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING, Catalogue Number ILPS 91111. This is a 1969 UK STEREO 1st PRESSING on the PINK ISLAND LABEL with WHITE "I" LOGO, with a superb 1st issue matt-finish E. J. DAY GATEFOLD SLEEVE. Complete with the original white poly-lined inner sleeve. [The matrix numbers are early Av2 and B//3 (where v = upside down triangle)].
The Barry Godber designed sleeve is in excellent condition.
The vinyl is also in excellent condition. Its a solid 140g pressing which retains a lovely deep mirror-like shine. Both sides display only a few very light surface marks under bright light. There is a minor edge warp which is purely cosmetic and does not affect the audio playback in any way. The Pink Island labels are unmarked with only a few short spindle traces each side. It is clear that the record has not been played many times. Both sides play excellently throughout with no discernable deterioration in sound quality and only a minimum of unwanted noise. With the exception of a few light ticks and minor surface sound during "Moonchild" (which is the case with virtually all of these Island 1st pressings), playback is near perfect. The audio is very dynamic and vibrant and the listening experience is compelling. I think that it will be very difficult to find a cleaner playing copy.
The original white poly-lined inner sleeve is also in excellent condition.
PACKAGING & POSTAGE
LPs are posted in purpose-made mailers with plenty of stiffening. Records are packed outside of the outer sleeve in order to prevent seam-splits in transit.
