KING CRIMSON - IN THE COURT OF THE CRIMSON KING
Increasingly hard to find UK 1st pressing with barely played vinyl and flawless stereo sound quality throughout
Year/Label : 1969 UK ISLAND Label number : ILPS 9111 Matrix numbers : ILPS 9111 A 2, ILPS 9111 B//4 Stampers : 12 9 / 11 4Near mint (NM) condition vinyl - weighty, completely flat, retaining a beautiful jet black sheen, and even with close inspection under a bright light I am unable to detect any blemishes at all, not even a single wispy hairline or faint paper scuff. Remarkable! The labels are in excellent plus (EX+) condition - just a single small and extremely faint spindle trail adjacent to the centre hole on each label, otherwise perfect. Clearly this is a record that has been little played (2 or 3 times at most is my guess). Unfortunatly the same cannot be said about the iconic 1st press E. J. Day non-laminated outer gatefold sleeve which has to be graded as only very good (VG). The edges remain firm but there is significant scuffing on each (continuous along the entire top edges), a firm spine but with intermittent and clearly noticeable scuffing which does impact upon the spine text, firm corners but with rubbing on each, firm opening edges with no fraying, an obvious scuff towards the the front-side top right corner where presumably a label once resided but has at some stage been clumsily removed (very frustrating!), and some mild ring wear towards the top and bottom edges on the reverse side. The interior of the gatefold is excellent and all art work, colours and text remain in very good and very presentable condition. Please do take a good look at my photos : this gatefold remains presentable and fully functional but clearly has blemishes resulting from careless handling and storage. Superbl, flawless, near mint (NM) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, distortion, clicks, background crackle or interference - wonderful tone and crystal clear stereo reproduction with terrific sound quality throughout. Not even a single click or nano-second of background crackle on "Moonchild" (the acid test!), and complete silence during the run-in's and run-off's. In summary, stunning audio quality!! Comes with original very good plus (VG+) condition poly-lined outer sleeve with no edge splits, a little greasing and some mild age discolouration towards the corners. I cannot guarantee that this inner sleeve is the original which came with this vinyl copy. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original.
Hard to find these King Crimson 1969 UK 1st pressings now, especially with original vinyl in such near mint condition as this. The stereo sound quality is truly stupendous.
