KING CRIMSON - IN THE WAKE OF POSEIDON
Increasingly rare and sought after UK 1st pressing, sparingly played and in great condition
Year/Label : 1970 UK ISLAND Label number : ILPS 9127 Matrix numbers : ILPS 9127 A//1 1,ILPS 9127 B//1 1 Stampers : 3 13 / 2 13Excellent plus (EX+) condition vinyl - completely flat and retaining it's original jet black lacquered sheen and in daylight comes across as perfect and completely unmarked. Close inspection under a bright light reveals just a couple of extremely fine and light paper scuffs of each side - purely superficial and not impinging upon the superb stereo sound quality at all. The iconic pink "i" Island labels are in superb condition with just a few small and extremely faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each. Clearly this is a record that has been only sparingly played. Excellent (EX) condition non-laminated heavily textured E.J. Day outer sleeve with firm and largely unscuffed edges - just a little mild scuffing towards the corners and some very light intermittent scuffing on the bottom edges. The spine is rigid with a little light scuffing towards the spine ends, all spine text remains nicely intact, each corner is a near perfectly defined right angle with minimal rubbing, and the opening edges remain firm with no fraying. There is no ring wear and just a very small light scuff on the front side towards the bottom edge, and all artwork and text remain in great condition. The interior of the gatefold is hard-to-fault. For a 55year old 1st press outer sleeve that is notoriously fragile the condition of this copy remains wonderfully impressive. Superb excellent plus (EX+) stereo sound quality with no sticks, skips, repeats, or distortion and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum, with wonderful tone and crystal clear stereo reproduction throughout. You might come across just the odd very light random click (I counted 5) but this is purely down to dust caught in the grooves through decades of storage and does not impinge upon the overall superb sound quality one bit. |Every track remains a great listen. Comes with very good plus condition "PLASTIC BAGS CAN BE DANGEROUS" poly-lined inner sleeve, dated and with with no splits or edge fraying - just some mild creasing towards the corners. Note that I always ship the vinyl in a new plain white inner sleeve in order to protect the original. A truly excellent condition copy of this UK 1st press King Crimson gem.

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
