RARE audiophile MFSL (Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab) LP pressing -- KING CRIMSON - In the Court of the Crimson King - 1969 Atlantic Records /1982 Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab (MFSL, Inc.) USA/Japan - MFSL 1-075. This was one of Mobile Fidelity's very limited pressing runs -- rumor has it that no more than 2500 LPs of this particular title were pressed. At that time, Mobile Fidelity did a fantastic job issuing classic progressive rock albums by bands like Emerson, Lake & Palmer, Genesis, Jethro Tull, King Crimson, Pink Floyd and Yes. This is a perfect example; the debut album by King Crimson (originally released in 1969 by Atlantic Records in the USA and Island Records in the UK). This is seminal progressive rock by the original lineup of King Crimson: Robert Fripp, Ian McDonald, Greg Lake, Michael Giles and Peter Sinfield. This was such an original work, and influenced jazz and rock musicians for years to come. The title track was a staple on progressive rock FM radio in the early 1970s, as well. Songs here include, "21st Century Schizoid Man," "I Talk to the Wind," "Epitaph," "Moonchild" and "The Court of the Crimson King." Half-Speed production and mastering by Original Masteringworks (featuring mastering engineer, Stan Ricker). Specially plated and pressed on high definition Super Vinyl by Victor Company of Japan Ltd. (you can see light through the vinyl; it's translucent). Special static-free dust-free inner sleeve and special heavy-duty protective packaging (see photo). Everything that was original with this title is included here; nothing is missing! Mastered with the Ortofon Cutting System. Vinyl is Near Mint ...my highest grade for an open LP ...no marks ...plays beautifully (sonics are excellent) ...not likely played much at all. Labels are clean (see photos). Gatefold jacket/cover is VG++ (equivalent to excellent on some grading scales) ...a tiny corner indentation (upper left), slight top and side edge wear (very, very minor). Some would grade this jacket/cover near mint, as all colors and finish are vibrant, and the appearance is like new. This jacket has been very well-cared for. Includes original protective cardboard MFSL insert (see photo). Enclosed in a protective poly outer sleeve. Stored in a non-smoking environment.
