Description
A rare original UK pink Island vinyl copy of King Crimson's second album, In the Wake of Poseidon, from 1970. This, I believe, is the earliest and rarest issue of this album, pressed on heavyweight vinyl with textured labels - the true first pressing of In the Wake of Poseidon. In fact the disc looks and feels like the very first textured label A2/B2 versions of In The Court of the Crimson King from the previous year. This copy has unique matrices of ILPS + 9127 + A2 and ILPS + 9127 + B2, similar to those you might see if you were looking at earlier Jethro Tull or Van Der Graaf Generator albums. Other pink Island copies of In the Wake of Poseidon have different matrices and are pressed on thinner vinyl. This disc is in strong VG condition with a number of light marks to be seen when examined under strong halogen lighting, but certainly no nasty feelable scratches. Both of these lovely pink labels are a strong VG with no unwanted writing or sticker tears and spindle marks indicating a moderate amount of play over the years. The heavily textured first press unlaminated E. J. Day gatefold sleeve is only in Good condition with a small sticker tear to the top right of the front panel and plentiful edgewear, cornerwear and spinewear.
