NOTEWORTHY FEATURES: THIS IS A SERIOUSLY RARE ALBUM AND IT MAY BE ONE OF THE FEW OPPORTUNITIES TO OWN IT AT A REALISTIC PRICE BEFORE THE VALUE INCREASES CONSIDERABLY. ALREADY THE RECORD COLLECTORS RARE RECORD PRICE GUIDE 2006 BOOKS IT AT £150.00 AND IT'S LIKELY TO INCREASE SUBSTANTIALLY IN THE NEAR FUTURE. THIS EXAMPLE IS ALL ORIGINAL AND HAS ALL THE RIGHT CREDENTIALS. STARTING FROM THE OUTSIDE IT HAS THE GARROD AND LOFTHOUSE PATENTS PENDING FRONT LAMINATED FLIPBACK COVER. ON THE BACK IT HAS THE ORIGINAL MONO CATALOGUE NUMBER WHICH HAS BEEN STICKERED WITH THE STEREO NUMBER - THIS IS VERY SPECIAL AS IT AUTHENTICATES A VERY EARLY STEREO PRESSING, THE RECORD WAS PRODUCED DURING A TRANSITION PERIOD FROM MONO TO STEREO AND THERE WERE RELATIVELY FEW STEREO FORMAT RECORDS PRODUCED SO THE MANUFACTURERS STICKERED OVER THE MORE COMMON MONO COVERS (PLEASE SEE PHOTOGRAPH). THE VINYL ITSELF IS STAMPED WITH THE FIRST PRESS MATRICES A-1 B-1, NOT ONLY THIS BUT IT HAS THE KT TAX CODE STAMPERS AGAIN SIGNIFICANT EVIDENCE OF A FIRST PRESSING. THIS IS AND EXTREMELY HARD TO FIND VINYL ESPECIALLY IN THIS EXCELLENT CONDITION AND IT PLAYS LIKE A DREAM - PLEASE READ MY AUDIO TEST IN GREEN TYPE FURTHER DOWN IN THIS LISTING.

 I RATE THE COMPONENTS OF THIS ALBUM AS FOLLOWS:

VINYL (visual / physical appraisal ) - TOP QUALITY SIXTIES PYE VINYL WHICH LOOKS AND FEELS GOOD - A LOVELY RIGID HEAVY DUTY PIECE WHICH LOOKS EXQUISITE. NO VISIBLE DISTORTION OR DEFORMATION WHEN TESTED ON A MOVING TURNTABLE.  JUST A FEW LIGHT, WISPY AND SUPERFICIAL SURFACE SCRATCHES CAUSED BY MOVEMENTS IN AND OUT OF THE INNER SLEEVE AND TWO MORE NOTICEABLE ONES ON SIDE TWO WHICH HAVE NO TANGIBLE DEPTH AND NO AUDIO CONSEQUENCE. BRILLIANT GLOSSY BLACK SHINE - MY RATING 86%

LABELS - SUPERB, A FEW LIGHT HANDLING MARKS AND VERY FEW LIGHT WISPY SPINDLE LINES, NO APPARENT WEAR TO THE SPINDLE HOLE - OVERALL AS GOOD AS I HAVE SEEN ON A 40 YEAR OLD CAREFULLY USED RECORD (Please see photographs) - MY RATING 90%

OUTER COVER - THE CLASSIC SINGLE SLIP COVER IN EXCELLENT CONDITION, FRONT LAMINATED WITH FLIPBACKS ALL WELL SEALED AND SHARP Printed and made by Garrod & Lofthouse Ltd. Patents pending - FRONT COVER HAS A CREASE FOR A SHORT DISTANCE WHICH FOLLOWS THE TOP EDGE OF THE VINYL FOR ABOUT 12 cms AND, THERE IS A SMALL LAMINATE BREAK AT THE END OF IT BUT IT IS NOT SERIOUS OR PARTICULARLY UNPLEASANT. THERE ARE A FEW LIGHT CREASES AT THE LEADING EDGE AND TINY BRUISING WHERE THE RECORD ENTERS THE COVER. THERE IS A VERY THIN BROWN LINE AT THE LEADING EDGE ABOUT 2mm WIDE WHERE THE LAMINATE HAS STOPPED FRACTIONALLY SHORT. THE FLIPBACKS HAVE SOM THIN BROWN EDGES WHERE THE LAMINATE SHORTENS BUT ALL THIS IS FROM NEW AND DOES NOT REPRESENT ANY DAMAGE. THE UNLAMINATED BACK HAS TWO SMALL BROWN STAINS AND SOME LIGHTER SCATTERED MOTTLING BUT NOTHING UNUSUAL OR UNPLEASANT IN MY OPINION - MY RATING 86%

SPINE - EXCELLENT, PINCHED IN AT THE ENDS AS IT SHOULD BE FROM NEW AND THEN BOXED WITH RIGID SQUARE SHOULDERS FOR THE REMAINDER, ALL WRITING CRYSTAL CLEAR, ALMOST AS NEW - MY RATING 90%

INNER SLEEVE - ORIGINAL WHITE PAPER WITH ANTISTATIC PAPER LINER LIGHTLY CREASED AND IN VERY GOOD CONDITION - MY RATING 85%

REAL AUDIO TEST / SOUND CHECK: TO ASSIST BUYERS I HAVE DECIDED TO ADD A SPECIFIC AUDIO QUALITY COMMENT BASED ON MY HEARING. I HAVE NOT DONE THIS BEFORE BECAUSE TO SOME EXTENT IT IS AN ‘INDIVIDUAL PERSONAL THING’ BUT WHEN SOMEBODY IS MAKING CLAIMS OF VERY GOOD, EXCELLENT OR MINT ABOUT A VINYL I THINK BUYERS ARE ENTITLED TO HAVE AN OPINION ABOUT HOW IT SOUNDS. I PLAY ALL MY VINYLS ON A PRO-JECT DEBUT lll DECK WITH THE DOWNFORCE SET AT 17.5 mN (1.75 g) THROUGH AN AMPLIFIER WITH BASS & TREBLE SET TO ZERO AND UNFILTERED. I WILL RATE THEM IN PERCENTAGE TERMS, AS I DO FOR THE OTHER COMPONENTS OF THE ALBUM; WITH OF COURSE A SPECIFIC COMMENT IF THEY SKIP, JUMP, SLIDE, SLIP OR SLUR ALTHOUGH I DO NOT EXPECT TO BE SELLING ANY VINYLS WITH THOSE DEFECTS. FOR THE ALBUM IN THIS LISTING THE RESULTS FOLLOW IN GREEN PRINT.

I MAKE NO EXCUSES FOR MY ENTHUSIASM WITH THIS AUDIO TEST. FOR ME THIS WAS PURE AUDIO PLEASURE. EXCITING, BRILLIANT, SENSATIONAL - A 'RED LETTER' AUDIO EXPERIENCE FOR ME. I WAS DELIGHTED AND ENTHRALLED BY THE QUALITY DELIVERED BY THIS PYE VINYL. THIS IS OF COURSE THE KINKS FOURTH ALBUM AND, FOR ME, THEIR BEST - IF IT HAD 'YOU REALLY GOT ME' ON AS WELL IT MAY BE A CONTENDER FOR MY ALL TIME FAVOURITE. THE WAY I MEASURE THE SUCCESS OF VINYL RECORDS IS TO CLOSE MY EYES AND HEAR HOW FAITHFUL THE REPRODUCED SOUND IS TO THE 'LIVE' SOUND AND THIS IS TRULY ASTONISHING - YOU COULD BE FORGIVEN FOR THINKING THAT THE KINKS WERE IN THE SAME ROOM PLAYING THE SONGS PERSONALLY.  FLUENT, UNINTERRUPTED PURE LISTENING PLEASURE. A LITTLE SURFACE SOUND ON THE LEAD IN TO THE FIRST TRACK AND A LIGHT TICK OR TWO IN THE UNRECORDED SECTIONS BETWEEN TRACKS BUT REALLY THE ONLY WAY TO LISTEN TO THIS MUSIC - I HAVEN'T HEARD THIS FOR SOME TIME AND I'D FORGOTTEN HOW GOOD IT WAS - THIS VINYL CERTAINLY GIVES THIS MUSIC AT ITS BEST - MY RATING -AN EASY 90%

Makes no sense to me to buy something important and then play the ‘high risk of damage game’ when having it shipped around the world – I hope you feel the same. Packing and Postage charges differ internationally SO I ALWAYS RECOMMEND THAT OVERSEAS BUYERS ASK FOR THESE COSTS BEFORE BIDDING. Unless the prospective bidder / buyer states a preference I always quote Airmail as Surface Mail does not usually cost much less and takes a long time (again more risk of damage or loss I think). Also please note that for British Pounds £3.30 extra you can have an International Signed for service which includes insurance up to £32. Insurance quotations to a value you specify in advance of shipping are available on request. PLEASE NOTE THAT FOR REASONS OF CONVENIENCE AND CURRENCY CONVERSION I CAN ONLY ACCEPT PAYMENTS BY PAYPAL FROM OVERSEAS BUYERS.

PACKING & POSTAGE: Vinyl’s are removed from covers and put in transit sleeves. All components are then placed seperately in the same polythene liner for added safety, and carefully secured between two  corrugated stiffeners taking care not to crush the spine. I use ‘Premium Quality 600 Micron Card Mailers’ with ‘Ultra Safe’ double 3.5 cm. wide latex strips across the whole of the mailer which provides excellent adhesion and protection. Internally I use 2 of the highest grade ‘B’ flute corrugated card stiffeners to prevent bending, deformation or edge/corner creasing. Packing & postage prices are NOT negotiable on items dispatched individually or separately. However, if you are a similar time multiple buyer where all items purchased are being sent to the same address and they can be combined safely, you can ask for a discounted quotation before bidding. I will always try to be fair with buyers on p&p costs but if you do not want to pay the prices on the listings or quotations please do not bid.  I am not interested in hearing from successful bidders afterwards questioning and complaining about cost of packing and postage! I always keep proof of posting but unless you pay for Recorded Delivery, International Signed For, Special Delivery or Full Insurance I may not be able to assist you with recovery of the item or any of the costs.

PAYMENT: I accept payment by PayPal only from overseas buyers and Paypal, Personal Cheques and Postal Orders in British Pounds Sterling. Cash is an option but only by Royal Mail Special Delivery and no coinage (rounded up). RETURNS: I DO have a standard returns policy (please see details further down in this listing) AND I am always prepared to consider anything which is reasonable. If you have a problem with an item which you buy from me for a reason which was not apparent or disclosed prior to purchase as a result of my omission or fault then I will usually accept return and full refund, including postal charges. In the unlikely event that we cannot resolve our differences by direct communication I am prepared to consider arbitration.
