Description

Up for auction is a super nice copy of the Kinks album "Kinks-Size" released on Reprise Records (6158) in 1965.  This is a guaranteed original first mono pressing.  Original first pressing "Tri-Color steamboat Reprise labels.  Run-out grove has stampers that read "1A" and "1B", indicating that this copy may, in fact, be one of the earliest first pressings.  Still in original opened shrink wrap.  Also includes original Reprise factory paper inner sleeve.
Cover is in fantastic condition, well preserved by being in the original shrink wrap for the last 50 years.  No ring wear, no splits, no tears.  Corners are sharp, not bumped.  Does have some very minor rubbed spots along opening side, but they don't really detract from the overall attractiveness of the beautiful cover (see photo).  Back cover is clean and bone white, no age discoloration.  Does have a price written in grease pencil in upper right corner of the shrink wrap but not on the album cover itself.  Could be easily erased.  Overall, I'd grade this cover an easy Near Mint (NM).
The vinyl looks to be in really nice condition, with no obvious scratches or scuffs.  Retains its original high gloss shine.  Labels are bright and clean, no marks around spindle holes.  Maybe some very faint signs of having been taken out of the paper inner sleeve a few times.  Shows very few, if any, signs of previous handling or play.  This record has probably been played only a couple of times.  I have play tested it, and it sounds really nice, full-bodied mono sound, just as this album was recorded.  Does have some faint surface noise in some places that fades in and out, but doesn't compete with the music, and you really can't hear it once the music kicks in.  Will always sound better and cleaner if played in mono mode on your stereo set-up.  Overall, I'd grade this record Near Mint Minus (NM-).  One of the nicest copies of this rare record I have ever come across.  Won't be easy to upgrade.  Still a bargain at this price.
