KINKS - LOLA VERSUS POWERMAN AND THE MONEYGOROUND PART I

A truly excellent & highly presentable condition copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1970 UK 1st press KInks psych/pop gem, with earliest A-1/B-3 matrix vinyl on the black&blue1st press PYE record label, STEREO, NSPL 18359

The appearance and overall condition of the flat and truly heavy duty vinyl is a solid excellent (EX), at least. In normal daylight each side of the vinyl comes across as in gleaming, perfect and unmarked condition with a beautiful jet black sheen; it is only with close scrutiny under a bright light that a couple of the wispiest of wispy small hairlines and lightest of light scuff lines on each side of the vinyl come into view - nothing "feelable" or obviously below the surface, and all very trivial and purely superficial. Clearly this vinyl has been sparingly played and remains in remarkable condition, especially considering it's 50 year old antiquity!

The condition of the labels is excellent plus (EX+). Lovely condition labels : earliest dual circular ridge 1st press matt labels with the coveted black text upon blue background and the famous black&blue PYE logo each in great condition. The only glitch on each label is a couple of small and very, very light spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole, otherwise perfect!

The condition of the non-laminated gatefold sleeve is excellent plus (EX+). Such an iconic sleeve but so fragile and prone to damage and wear and tear, so it is indeed rare to come across an original UK 1st press gatefold copy in as impressive a condition as this. All edges remain firm with just a few very light, barely noticeable small scuff marks; each corner is remains a near perfectly defined right angle with minimal rubbing on each. The spine is in great shape - rigid with no scuffing or creasing - with all spine text perfectly intact. The inside of the gatefold is difficult to fault, the opening edges remain firm with no feathering or fraying, and there is no unwanted writing or doodles or score marks anywhere. The colours, text and artwork on both the outside and inside of this iconic album cover remain rich and vibrant with perfect definition and clarity. Wonderful!

The quality of the STEREO audio is excellent (EX). Great tone and clarity throughout, even at higher volume and on higher frequencies. There are no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks or clicks. There is some occasional very, very light background crackle during a few of the quieter passages/interludes - I put this down to some residual dust in the grooves through decades of storage and feel certain that a proper clean would remedy this; even so, I stress that what little crackle does exist is minimally intrusive and there is certainly nothing here to spoil the overall truly excellent STEREO audio quality, with every track still making for a great listen even after all of these years.

Comes with original excellent condition poly-lined plain white "U.K. Patent No...." text inner sleeve with no rips, tears or fraying - just some mild creasing in the corners along with some mild discoluration around the edges and remaining fully functional. Note that I always use a new, plain white replacement inner sleeve for shipping purposes in order to protect the original.

In summary a truly excellent copy of this increasingly rare and sought after 1970 UK very first 1st press Kinks psych/pop gem - now becoming very difficult to find 1st pressing copies in condition as impressive as this - the whole LP remains a great listen and a "must" for any serious vinyl collection, only continuing to gain in value.

On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl thick cardboard "crucifix" style mailer along with at least two thick cardboard stiffeners. I take great care in separating the record from the outer sleeve in order to help prevent sleeve damage in transit and I always insert the vinyl, outer sleeve and inner into a clear plastic sleeve, thus adding further protection.

Mint

The records itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and /or creasing.

Very Good

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

Fair

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents are torn, stained and/or defaced

Poor

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents are badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler
