KINKS - Something Else USA Reprise R 6279 PROMO ONLY MONO VERSION. Perhaps the RAREST AMERICAN KINKS RECORD?? Something Else was only ever issued in MONO in the USA as a promotional LP. As we all know what tremendous success the band enjoyed with this release in the USA at the time, it does not take a huge leap of the imagination to percieve of the the absolute rarity of this item. I've seen more one sided YRGM promo 45's than I have of this LP in over 35 years of collecting the band. Heck, I've seen as many Greek FACE TO FACE or NEW ZEALAND - VGPS as I have of this. Anyway, it's a rare record. Nice to find that this copy is in decent shape. The labels are in GREAT condition, as can be seen from the scans. The vinyl is VG, playing a bit noisy in places. Just background crackle, not skips, scratches, jumps, or anything like that. But there is a bit of surface noise apparent. The cover is in good shape, a bit of wear, though NO SEAM SPLITTING, is evident on the bottom. There is a small bit of writing in the upper left hand corner of the back cover. but overall, not bad. A conservative VG. So what is on offer here is a servicable, though by no means perfect, condition copy of an extremely rare record. IMO, the labels are the main attraction here, as the UK PYE pressing destroys the US version in terms of sound quality. But that's the case with all UK PYE first pressings vs. US issues. this record is all about it's relative scarcity, a pretty sure bet for one of the half dozen or so rarest KINKS LP'S ever produced.
