Description

Per Wikipedia, The Kinks were an English rock band formed in London in 1963 by brothers Ray and Dave Davies, and Pete Quaife. They are regarded as one of the most influential rock bands of the 1960s. The band emerged during the height of British rhythm and blues and Merseybeat, and were briefly part of the British Invasion of the United States until their touring ban in 1965. Their third single, the Ray Davies-penned "You Really Got Me", became an international hit, topping the charts in the United Kingdom and reaching the Top 10 in the United States. The Kinks' music drew from a wide range of influences, including American R&B and rock and roll initially, and later adopting British music hall, folk, and country. The band gained a reputation for reflecting English culture and lifestyle, fuelled by Ray Davies' observational and satirical lyricism. The album, Lola Versus Powerman and the Moneygoround, Part One, commonly abbreviated to Lola Versus Powerman, or simply Lola, is the eighth studio album by the Kinks, released on 27 November 1970. A concept album, it is a satirical appraisal of the music industry, including song publishers, unions, the press, accountants, business managers, and life on the road. It marked the group's expansion to a five-piece with the addition of keyboardist John Gosling. Although it appeared during a transitional period for the Kinks, Lola Versus Powerman was a success both critically and commercially for the group, charting in the Top 40 in America and helping restore them in the public eye, making it a "comeback" album. It contained two hit singles: "Lola", which reached the top 10 in the US and UK, and "Apeman", which peaked at number five in the UK. This particular recording is a reissue of the original 1970 release on the Reprise Record label. It consists of 13 tracks with a run time of 40+ minutes. The cover is in VG+ condition with mild wear along the edges and corners. There is a hint of disc ring wear on the back cover. There are no split seams, tears or markings on the covers. The interior covers of this gatefold album are in VG+ condition and contain track listings, along with lyrics. The artwork and graphics throughout show no discoloration or defects. The inner sleeve is original and consists of an anti static poly vinyl sleeve with WB logos. The recording has been cleaned and tested using Audacity and all tracks are free of skips. There is very little background noise and sound is clean, clear and strong. The vinyl surfaces show only mild, superficial wear with no obvious defects that would interfere with the music. Application of the Goldmine standards for grading records, this particular recording would rate VG+/EX.

I always clean, listen and test every record using Audacity that I list on EBAY. I do this in insure that I can give as accurate a description for each album I list. I also try to follow the Goldmine standards on grading records. I do this as a service to the buyer, as well as, to maintain my own reputation.
