KIRSTEN FLAGSTAD: Sibelius Song Recital (Decca SXL 2030 UK LP 1960) WBg ED1 Nice

This is a 1960 UK Stereo 1st pressing LP in very nice overall condition! It has a front laminated flipback sleeve which has an extremely thin spine. The "spine" text is on the rear sleeve next to the spine. The top & bottom flipbacks have a rounded die-cut area at the centre. There is a printing date on the rear sleeve (J.P. 3.60). This means that the sleeve was printed in March 1960. It comes complete with its original Libretto/ Translation Insert. This is printed on thin card. It comes with its original polythene-lined generic "FFSS" Stereophonic company inner sleeve.

The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has black & silver ED1 "wide band" Decca labels which are grooved also. They have the "Original Recordings By.." text on them. It has 1st press ZAL-3999-1K and ZAL-4000-1K matrix numbers. These are machine stamped in the dead wax.

This is a genuine UK Stereo 1st pressing with the earliest matrix numbers. The sleeve has a 1960 printing date on the rear too. It also comes complete with its original libretto. I have some other rare UK Stereo Classical LP's for sale too. So please see my other listings. Don't miss out!

Sleeve: There is light or very mild rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light or very minor rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on a very few areas. This barely notices under a strong light. There is some very minor fading to the "white" of the rear sleeve. There is a small thumb-tip sized stain on the rear sleeve. This is extremely feint and hardly notices under a strong light. There is a small fingertip sized area of creasing at the front spine edge. This is not too noticeable and does not affect the rear sleeve. There is a small thumb-tip sized area of laminate lifting on the front sleeve. This is at the top spine area. The spine edge is in great condition. There are no seam splits on any edge. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear on some areas. Overall, Very Good++ condition.

Vinyl: This LP doesn't look to have been played that much. There is a tiny & very mild 0.5 cm surface rub mark at the very start of Side 2. There are a few light, very mild or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The original inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. Overall, NEAR EXCELLENT condition. The labels are in Near Mint condition and show next to no spindle wear.

The original polythene-lined company inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.

The Libretto/ Insert  is in Near Excellent condition. There is some very mild overall fading. There is some light or very minor ringwear on a very few areas. 

I have play tested this LP in its entirety. Side 1 plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall & Near Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in the background to a varying degree. It never overpowers the music. Please remember that this is a very quiet LP overall. There are a couple of mild clicks near the start of Side 1. There are a couple of very mild clicks later on too. There are a few brief areas of more moderate intermittent crackle. This does not last too long. 

Side 2 plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some places. There is the very occasional light or very mild click. Overall, Side 2 plays much better than Side 1.

This LP would definitely benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Visually the disc looks in Near Excellent to Excellent condition. It also still gleams like new! Therefore, any crackle is just due to microscopic deep down dirt in the grooves. This has happened over the years. It would, I believe,  play Excellent to Excellent+, & possibly better, after a professional clean. It should remove any crackle or clicks.

All records will be sent in high quality vinyl box/ mailers with at least two card stiffeners either side of the LP or 7" Single. I use a cruciform box for larger orders (3-6 LPs). All parcels will be marked "Fragile" and dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment.

I will also remove the vinyl from the sleeve & place them in a re-sealable polythene sleeve. In order to prevent seam splits. Depending on the inner sleeve; I often remove the vinyl from the inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, plain inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your LP(s).
