KISS — DOUBLE PLATINUM 1978 U.S. Casablanca 2-LP Set • Santa Maria Pressing • NBLP 7100-2
KISS’s Double Platinum brings together the defining studio recordings from the band’s explosive 1970s run in one substantial two-record collection. More than a routine greatest-hits package, the album was prepared with remixed and edited versions of several songs and opens with the newly recorded “Strutter ’78.” The elaborate embossed silver-foil gatefold presentation made the release one of Casablanca’s most distinctive KISS packages and an immediately recognizable piece for collectors.
This is a 1978 U.S. Casablanca Records pressing, catalog number NBLP 7100-2, identified as a Santa Maria pressing. Both records have been ultrasonic cleaned and fully play graded. The complete two-record set sounded excellent throughout. A visible surface scratch was carefully play tested twice and did not affect playback.
ConditionVinyl: VG — Both records retain attractive gloss but show visible sleeve marks, scuffing and scattered scratches consistent with careful prior use. One side has a visible surface scratch; that passage was deliberately played twice and the scratch did not affect playback. Both LPs were ultrasonic cleaned and fully play graded, and the complete set sounded excellent throughout with no skips.
Cover: VG — The embossed silver-foil gatefold cover remains visually impressive, with noticeable rubbing, surface scuffing, handling wear, creasing and corner/edge wear visible in the photographs. The gatefold presentation and interior artwork remain an important part of this collectible package.
