Description
Purchased Brand New and stored in a plastic album bag. Fourth 1974 Pressing with 3rd Blue/Dark Grey Casablanca label design with the Bogart smoking man on the left. Terre Haute pressing. Cover is in pretty nice shape with no face surface or ring wear showing. Top right front corner has some "bent lines" (see pictures). Back top left corner has a small "rumple" and slight bend stemming from the front cover "bent lines" (see pictures). Back cover bottom left corner area has a slight raised wrinkle along the back bottom seam area (see picture). Album access edge is smooth and nice with no dents, knicks or rough spots. Spine is nice with lettering almost centered at the top and lettering running downhill towards the back cover at the spine bottom (see pictures). (Revision on 2-22-2026: The back cover was cut a little too small, about a quarter inch on the top and bottom and a little more along the spine on the back cover, showing the front cover overlap on those three edges. It is even, no overlap, along the album access edge but the bottom left arched lettering is missing part of the first line along that album access edge because it was cut too small at the factory.) (see pictures)
Original plain white paper sleeve has some creasing on two of the front and back corners (see pictures). There are no rips, splits or tears, just discoloration from age.
Album vinyl has been played a few times. I always used a Shure M91ED Stylus and Cartridge tracking at 1 gram. JUst some very light "surface scuffing" visible in critical sunlight. Labels look great, Side One label has a tiny straight line mark, might be from the spindle, that is barely noticeable.

Kiss (commonly styled as KIϟϟ or KISS) was an American rock band formed in New York City in 1973 by Paul Stanley (vocals, rhythm guitar), Gee Simmons (vocals, bass guitar), Ace Frehley (lead guitar, vocals) and Peter Criss (drums, vocals). Known for their face paint and stage outfits, the group rose to prominence in the mid-1970s with shock rock–style live performances that featured fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits and pyrotechnics. The band went through several lineup changes, with Stanley and Simmons remaining the only consistent members
The band entered Bell Sound Studios in New York City on October 10, 1973, to begin recording its first album. On December 31, the band had its official industry premiere at the Academy of Music in New York City, opening for Blue Oyster Cult. It was at this concert that, for the first of many times, Simmons accidentally set his hair (which was coated in hairspray) ablaze while performing his fire-breathing routine. His trademark stalking stage-moves were inspired by the creature Ymir of the movie 20Million Miles to Earth.
Kiss's first tour started on February 5, 1974, in Edmonton, Alberta, a cafeteria at the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology, as an opening act. The band's self-titled debut album was released on February 18. Casablanca and Kiss promoted the album heavily throughout the spring and summer of 1974.
