MUSIC FROM THE ELDER - After Unmasked fell off the charts, Kiss rolled the dice to record a concept album, 'Music From The Elder'. The risk failed resulting in KISS' lowest point in their recording career. Though it was their lowest point in album sales, (so low, they chose to not tour in support of The Elder,) it was prized by many the die hard fan as KISS' masterpiece, and for the first time in the bands history, it received praise for their musical chops alone. (The elder did not feature any pictures of KISS on the cover or liner,) It even conjured an approval by Rolling Stone magazine and remains today as the album that's 'different' than the others. At that point, KISS had no choice but to return to what the band was founded on... pure, raw, hard Rock n Roll. KISS recorded four tracks for a compilation Japanese release, KISS Killers, where they honed and shaped their own brand of heavy metal as a rehearsal for their next international release.
CREATURES OF THE NIGHT - would be the heaviest KISS record ever recorded sans their original axeman, Ace Frehley. Creatures was unique in many ways, particularly the huge cannon fire drum sound of the late Eric Carr. KISS tried many different approaches to topping anything and everything ever done before on studio drum tracks. The result was an empty warehouse next to the same studio where Eric had recorded the songs for Killers. They opened two sets of double doors to where the sound echoed and carried... a drum sound KISS has tried in vain to replicate in releases to follow, never quite getting that booming, open room sound.
LICK IT UP - KISS chose Vincent Cusano to replace Ace Frehley for Creatures, (his surname was changed to Vincent) as he somehow turned into somewhat of a Sean Delaney for the band's direction. Vincent's wicked style and nasty lyrics were turned loose full bore on what was the first KISS record to feature the band sans make-up. Lick it Up did more than just thrust KISS back into the center spot light, it rocked head to toe. Simmons had an identity crisis somewhere between Animalize and Hot in The Shade... but not on Lick it Up. The demon was all there in lyric and stage persona. Paul Stanley seemed to be set free from chains and sored vocally, lyrically and on stage. KISS Lick it Up set the president for the 'non-make-up' years because... well, because they would never top Lick It Up in the non make up years!
ALL THREE ARE HERE together for your collection. The thing about these albums that are more precious than the history is... the OUTSTANDING condition they're in! All three have hardly been played and are in very good condition. No ring around the record covers here! All three have their original inner sleeves and are free of scratches. VERY good condition.
