Description
This is a very good original U.S. pressing copy of the rare sole LP by the Koala, released in 1969. Though the jacket's back cover declares the group to be "from Australia," they actually formed in Brooklyn, New York. (Perhaps Capitol Records figured that since this gimmick had worked for fellow New Yorkers the Strangeloves a few years earlier, they might be able to hit paydirt with it as well.) The group played guitar-heavy late '60s hard rock with proto-punk snarling vocals courtesy of lead singer José Mala. All of the songs on the LP were co-written by Mala and rhythm guitarist Joey Guido. The group's lead guitarist, Louis Caine (aka Louis Dambra), soon after joined early '70s hard rockers Sir Lord Baltimore (also from Brooklyn, despite their name). The unipak jacket has a name written in pen on the back cover (see photo), light creasing and scuffing along the spines, and mostly light ring, corner, spine, and seam wear (VG+). The disc has some dings, hairline scratches and scrapes, and light scuffing, and plays with light surface noise, some crackling, and occasional light popping (VG+).
I’m in the process of selling off a large personal collection amassed over two decades. All discs have been stored in plastic lined inner sleeves separate from their jackets. The jackets have been stored in plastic sleeves. I have play graded (spot checked) discs except where otherwise noted.
