DESCRIPTION:
Absolutely fantastic ORIGINAL copy of this seminal LP and one of the most underrated 60s garage LPs from around the globe. This is a killer album! It was recorded right after the band was set free from prison charged of playing western music (i.e. English beat/rock) when the president forbid them to do so! Therefore, comes this angry beast out of the prisons of 60s Indonesia. Full to the brim with Them-like 60s angst, great garage all the way with a couple of English language tunes thrown in.
Number one succesful psych/ballad rock band from Indonesia. Koes Bersaudara consisted 5 Koeswoyo brothers, started their carrier in 1962 and released first debut LP in 1964 with Irama Record, this band released over than 90 albums under name Koes Bersaudara and Koes Plus, no other bands can make this unbelievable achievements. After release 3 Lps, Koes Bersaudara change their name to be Koes Plus due to one personnel (Nomo Koeswoyo) quit.
"To The So Called The Guilties" is the 2nd LP, their released this LP after stay in prison for 3 months because goverment banned their songs. In This LP, Koes Bersaudara play more rock, this is masterpiece from their carrier, one of a must have LP for collector, very hard to find this LP such as this good condition. don't miss it. This famous 1965 album was released short after they were free from the 100 day prison. As you all know, it was the cold war era back to that time when Koes Bersaudara often play The Beatles hits on stage, the band who inspired them (it was I Saw Her Standing There sung in particular tragedy). Singing a western song or known as 'ngak ngik ngok music' was subversive according to the government as they might be leading to neocolonialism. The record shows a lot of protest in their lyrics and many believe that the romantic tracks was written in the prison and dedicated for their lover, family and friends. Undoubtly this was one of the most historical album in Indonesian modern music scene.
