Kurtis Scott "Music For The People" LP
Features background vocals from The Unity.
19?? Sound-Rite Records from NYC. Catalog # KS-22377.
Guaranteed original U.S. pressing. All appropriate etchings in run-out.
RARE and highly sought after private press funk/soul gem from Kurtis Scott: the artist formerly known as Kurt Harris who released a few prominent Northern soul jewels including "Emperor Of My Baby's Heart" on Diamond Records (1964). This particular LP was also released on Apache Records. However this one on Sound-Rite has an obscure promo type cover with a photo printed into the actual jacket.
The album features a couple of stand-out funk tunes. "Let's Party After Hours", and "Build Build Build (Pts. I & II)" which the latter was also released on Happenin' Records (CLICK HERE for previous auction).
Vinyl is in NM condition. There's a few very faint barely visible sweep marks from sliding in and out of paper insert. Also there's some speck marks inside the wax itself caused during production. Neither mentioned affects play whatsoever. Cover is also in NM condition. Still in shrink wrap. There's a small bit of wear along the top corner of opening edge. Also under the shrink, the top edge of cover has a small fold to it as if the shrink were applied too tight or something. Nothing major at all. Sonically, not the greatest mastered LP. However and essential piece for the enthusiast to enjoy! Sound files below from the ACTUAL record.
