Format: This is twelve” UK pressing of the third album by Kate Bush. This copy has a laminated gatefold sleeve. What makes this copy so special is that it is signed and dedicated to ‘Maurice’ by both Jon Kelly, the joint producer of the album, and Kate Bush herself. Kate has written in fine black biro-style pen “For dear Maurice. Take care of yourself lots of love Kate Bush xxxx.” Album producer and engineer Jon Kelly has written “Maurice Hope you enjoy this and a million thanks for helping me discover the joys of playing ‘Tama, the world’s finest drums, Prod. Jon.” So, a rare opportunity to own a classic album signed by Kate and her joint producer and engineer back in 1980.
Condition: Despite being a heavily laminated cover, this copy is well worn. There is a significant wear around the spine resulting in a loss of the laminate, moderate creasing and rubbing, and the laminate has shrunk around the opening edge of the gatefold sleeve. The autographs are on the internal gatefold element of the sleeve, which is much better condition! There is moderate ‘yellowing to the card but overall, in good condition with only very minor creasing and wear to the internal part of this sleeve. Jon Kelly has written in blue biro-style pen, and Kate Bush has written in black biro-style pen. I would grade the signature quality for both as 7/10, as you can see that the ‘biro’ has struggled to ‘take’ to the laminate surface. Overall, and impactful cover with great messages, which would look amazing framed for any fan of Kate Bush! Overall grading of the cover is very good minus (-), and a well-worn cover. I have not graded the vinyl and inner sleeve as there is no intrinsic value, and this album sold in the hundreds of thousands back in 1980!
