This beautiful LP from French Decca (SXL 2289, French pressing, orange/silver FFSS WB label, stereo) features the incomparable conductor István Kertész in a truly magical account of Dvorak's Symphony No. 9 in E minor Op. 95 “From the New World”.
Of interest to collectors is the fact that this disc preserves the earlier of Kertesz's two recordings of the 'New World Symphony', made with the Vienna Philharmonic in the rich acoustics of the Sofienssaal, Vienna during 22-24 March 1961, and not the more familiar London Symphony Orchestra remake set down in November 1966.
Incidentally, the memorable cover photo was supplied by Pan American Airways. There are informative liner notes on the reverse side of the jacket by Edmond Frankl, provided in French only.
CONDITION:
The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.
The condition of the jacket is EXCELLENT. There is a mild ringwear and discoloration to the rear panel, as well as minor wear at corners. However, there are no seamsplits, owners' markings or other defects, and the whole remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, an excellent collector's copy.
The condition of the LP itself is near-MINT. Though the surfaces are not perfectly silent (and thus I have rated it NM vs. MINT) this is a fine copy and playback is superb. If you must have perfect surfaces, then please do not buy this LP. Overall, this rates as a NM collector's copy.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
