Description

Kevin Ayers - Whatevershebringswesing

(Harvest SHVL 800 UK LP 1972)

This is a UK original LP pressing. It has a heavyweight fully textured gatefold sleeve. It comes with its original polythene lined "Harvest" company inner sleeve. This advertises other Harvest LP's available at the time. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has 1st press A-1/ B-1 matrix stampers. The Harvest labels have "The Gramophone Co..." text around the upper perimeter. There is one boxed "EMI" logo. A genuine UK 1st pressing. A great early 1970's Prog Rock LP.

Gatefold Sleeve: There is moderate to considerable rubbing wear to the top & bottom edges. This has caused a small 3 cm seam split at the bottom edge of the rear sleeve opening. There is mild, moderate or considerable rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the spine on some areas. The spine text is mainly legible. There is light, mild or very mild ringwear. Overall, Very Good condition

Vinyl: There are some light, mild or very mild sleeve rubs which can only be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, mild or very mild dull surface marks on some areas. These, again, can only be seen under a strong light. They are mainly on Side 2. Overall, a strong Very Good condition. The labels are in Very Good++ condition & show mild or very mild spindle wear. There is some light or very minor foxing on some areas. This can hardly be seen under a strong light. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, foxing, staining & creasing. There are no seam splits.

I have fully play tested this LP. It plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the background to a varying degree. This is only really noticeable in the quieter places. There are a couple of areas of more moderate crackle. This doesn't last too long. The crackle does not overpower the music in any place. There are no noticeable clicks or pops.

This LP would definitely benefit from a professional deep down groove clean. Any crackle, in the main, is just due to deep down dirt in the grooves. This LP would play at least Excellent, I believe, after a professional deep down groove clean.
