Description

Publisher: Hollywood Los Angeles, California, United States. World-Pacific Records. Original 1966 Pressing, Mono, Deep Groove. World Pacific Stereo High Fidelity. Sleeve shows very slight aging, vinyl in near mint condition. FYI: Koto is a stringed instrument, made of pawlonia wood which has thirteen silken strings of same ply, each with movable bridge to be tuned. It rest on the floor in front of the musician and is played with 3 ivory plectras attached like elongated fingernails to the thumb, the first and second finger of the right hand while the left hand is used to pull or depress the strings to obtain the flat and sharp note. The Koto was brought to Japan from China in about the eighth century A.D. and for about 400 years thereafter it was used mainly for court music.
