Description
This is an extremely scarce copy of "Dinah" b/w "Tiger Rag" by the Red Devils, a group that includes Hawaiian steel guitarist "King" Bennie Nawahi. This is one of his more desirable records - two sizzling hot sides featuring steel guitar, kazoo, violin, piano, and drums, plus scat singing choruses. Recorded February 3, 1931 and issued on Columbia 14586-D. Condition is V, with scratches and graying of grooves. The "Tiger Rag" side has several light, thin lamination marks (I wouldn't even call them cracks) that can barely be felt with a fingernail and do not affect the playing. Both sides play noisier in the first 30 seconds and improve as the record progresses. (see scan for close-ups of the lams). Some distortion on louder passages. Slightly enlarged center hole. Labels clean. Media mail shipping to the U.S. is $5.00 (ebay doesn't get how much it costs to pack and ship a fragile 78, so they set a limit of $4.00. $1 will be added to your invoice to cover the extra cost).
