Description
An original 2nd issue of ITCOTCK on the UK Pink-Rim Island label from 1971. Matrix 4/4. The heavy set vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. Please note the cover still caries the original Island address as 'Basing Street' - this is indicative of an earlier reissue and was dropped from later pink-rim copies. Also included is an original light blue Island inner sleeve from the time. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex+) In super condition and has clearly only seen light use. Under close inspection we could only make out a couple of very light marks either side - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. And on a debut KC record that's a real achievement. This title is renowned for being the one most fussy records out there for audio. You really need a super-clean copy for it to manage to nail even those ultra-quiet sections. But this copy is tremendously well preserved and does a nigh on perfect job of delivering top-level audio all the way through. Basically - it's as clean as it's possible to go without opening a fresh copy from the packet in '69/'70. Pretty much totally devoid of interference. If I'm being super critical I could just make out one or two static crackles in the noodling in the second half of Moonchild. But a perfectly silent copy through this passage is almost impossible. And then one slight click/tick in track 1 on the first side. A top of the line example in my opinion...you will struggle to match this level let alone surpass it.
Cover (Ex) It really is in very nice clean and crisp condition - might grade higher but for a couple of compression lines. If you look at the photos carefully, particularly the zoomed in ones, you should be able to make out some very slight tramlines caused by compression. They can be found top and bottom on both the front and rear. They're quite fine and you'll have to concentrate on them to even make them out properly. This is really the only fault I can make out that would stop it gaining that top grade of Ex+. Surfaces are totally free from wear and creasing - they are clean and crisp. Ditto the interior - faultless. Edge wear is very very light and the openings are still sharp. The spine is as close to perfect as you're realistically gonna find. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. A mighty impressive example.
Inner (Vg) No splits. A bit aged in places. And what looks like a couple of large coffee stains on one side. The photo showing is actually the better side - please be aware!
