Description

An original Summer1971 copy of ITCOTCK on the UK Island label. Note that the solid pink label copies go for a fortune if they're in decent condition. Why not try a copy from 18 months after those initial '69 masters? I can tell you that these early copies on the 2nd label will sound every bit as good - providing they've been looked after. This title is beyond fussy and you need to insist on the very best preservation levels to fully reveal this prog-rock masterpiece. Note that the record comes housed in an original 2nd issue over. Very 1st were printed by E J Day - and ALL state the Basing Street address right down at the foot of the spine. Very early 2nd issues STILL mention this address at the foot of the spine [as this example does]. Also included is the original blue Island inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) A stunning looking slab of vinyl which has clearly only seen the very lightest use. Under close inspection, even into very bright light, reveals very little markings at all...even at the "superficial level". A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Ok, so let's cut to the chase here..I don't think I've ever heard a better rendition of the debut. THIS title is one of those titles which is truly incredibly difficult to find playing properly clean. And this is part of the reason which drives those early pink label copies to such expensive heights. I would argue much better value, and probably [on average] better audio quality, can be garnered from an early pink-rim copy. I won't bore you with which bits play low-key etc etc..we all know where they are and there's plenty of them! But this copy will guarantee you a close on perfect rendition delivering ALL and every section with tremendous clarity, depth, and resolution. If you need to hear this album as it was originally intended with maximum audio delivery....you need to take a serious look at this copy. Even, "Moonchild" which would be in the running for fussiest darn track of all time... is delivered really nice and clean. Not perfect...but certainly exceptionally clean...expect the odd couple of crackles in a few isolated moments. Quite frankly ...way way better than what usually surfaces. So, this copy comes highly recommended.
Cover (Ex-) A lovely early original copy which has clearly been looked after down the years. Might grade a tad higher, but for a bit of wear and light fade on the spine. A very nice clean and flat front and rear. I'm struggling to make out any wear or creasing at all really. The interior is immaculate - I've not seen better. Edge wear is slight for this title. Very little sign at all and the openings are still sharp. The spine exhibits a bit of wear in places. The album title is fully legible, but the band name and catalogue number less so. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner (Vg+) A bit of ageing. But no splits.
