Description

On offer here is a copy of In The Court Of The Crimson King by King Crimson, released on the Island label in 1969 catalogue number ILPS 9111.

This is a rare heavier contract pressing by Pye, which is a difficult to find early variant that was pressed in in fairly small numbers on the "Pink Rim" Island label, which is arguably more difficult to find than the first press on the Pink i label.

The unlaminated gatefold cover is clean with no ring wear so often associated with this cover, with light rubbing to the bottom and top edges, the spine does have wear but most of the text is readable, however please study the photos.

The vinyl is in Excellent condition with a clean sheen to both sides.There is a small light scuff on Side Two but this does not sound. I have played this album all the way through on my system ( Michell Gyrodek, SME Series 5 arm, Naim Pre and Power Amps and B & W Nautilus speakers) and the sound quality is Excellent. I have also cleaned the album on my VPI 16.5 Record cleansing machine.

The labels are the Pink Rim Island labels which are "rough" and are clean and unmarked.

The matrix numbers are ILPS +9111+A3 and ILPS 9111+ B3.

There is "PORKY" and "PECKO" scratched in the dead wax areas.

Overall this is an Excellent copy of what is quickly becoming a rare and sought after release, and would grace any serious collection.

The record will be sent outside of its cover in a polythene sleeve, sandwiched between two 12" cardboard stiffeners, in a professional record mailer made by Covers 33 and as used by Mail Order record companies.
