Description
Here is King Crimson's ground-breaking debut album, 'In the Court of the Crimson King'. I would like to say (as I have in most of my other listings) that I bought this on day one of release. But I didn't. My, then unknown to me, future wife bought it on day one instead! That's why I married her ;). She hates it now! It was released in 1969 and this version has the early pink Island label ILPS - 9111.
The cover is relatively clean but bit tatty round the edges with some blue (paint?) marks around the teeth on the front cover. My wife could never explain those! The spine is worn but the inside of the sleeve is in beautiful contition.
The vinyl has a reasonable sheen but there are a few surface marks and scratches and one at the start of 'Moonchild' on side two is somewhat intrusive. There is also a 'nick' in the edge (see close up photo.. it's most noticeable on side 2) but this, in no way, affects the playability. Side one plays well with surface noise only really noticeable during the quieter sections. Side two opens with Moonchild and a scratch or two impacts upon the start of the track with a few 'pops'and a couple of jumps. Of course, 'Moonchild' becomes a very soft improvised track and the surface noise is present here but not overly distracting. It is what you would expect from a well played, 45 year old record. It is still very listenable but 'mint' this definately is not! I always listen to the record as I type my listing and I still very much enjoyed the experience. It never sticks and is not at all warped. The labels are in lovely condition with only light spindle wear.
