Description
Most of you already know enough about this hugely influential and legendary album so I won't get into any unnecessary history. However, some of you may not know about how special the 1st Canadian pressing (SD - 8245) of this album is. The audio is sensational and unexpectedly so. Having already owned just about every pressing of this record, I can honestly say this pressing is on par with the VERY best; and by that I mean the 1st UK pressing on the pink "i" labels (ILPS 9111) In fact, in some respects it's even superior because the quality of the vinyl for these early Canadian issues were much better. Another detail worth mentioning is that the 1st Canadian issues for this album had fully and heavily "textured" sleeves. If you run your finger tips over the jacket, you get a feeling like your touching sandpaper....very unusual but somehow highly appropriate. But what makes this issue even more amazing is the remarkable condition of both jacket and record....truly beyond belief. How it has survived for 46 years and not become battered and worn is beyond me. An extremely rare offering of this pressing and doubtful you will ever find another one this clean.
Condition of Gatefold Jacket: Near Mint.....hardly a blemish to be seen. There is one tiny nick to the spine below and the faintest of wear to a couple of the corners....that's it. Simply amazing.....heavy board construction that is textured on the outside as well as the inside with vivid colors.
Condition of the Record: Near Mint.....as previously mentioned, the condition of this heavy vinyl is truly spectacular with audio to match. If looked at under very bright lights, one can see some faint lines and marks but I feel quite sure these were there from new and are probably pressing anomalies. I've playgraded this record (as I do for ALL my Lp listings) and I can assure you it is indeed Near Mint verging on Mint.....Stunning.
