King Crimson In The Wake Of Poseidon UK 1st Press Vinyl LP Rare Withdrawn Mix!
This is a rare opportunity! This is a UK very first pressing of King Crimson 'In The Wake Of Poseidon' on Island Records. This has of course got pink 'i' labels and the correct A1/B1 matrices.
This particular pressing has the longer version of 'In The Wake Of Poseidon' which runs to 8 minutes 26 seconds which was soon after withdrawn and the succeeding pressings had a shorter version.
The vinyl is gleaming. At first glance appears unmarked however upon close inspection there are some faint marks to be seen, only really at the beginning of side A where there is a minor underlying noise just at the lead-in to 'Peace A Beginning' and then a low-level rotational tic in the quiet break of 'Pictures Of A City' from a tiny faint scratch clearly caused by handling. Also there is minor unevenness to the record visible only in rotation and not affecting play in any way.. when I say minor it it minor! These are small detractions and this is a detailed appraisal due to the value and rarity of this pressing. The overall presentation is near-excellent and is excellent or better for the most part with a very sharp and detailed sound of a low-hours record!.
The sleeve is the best I have seen! Known for surface wear and edge fluffing this has none of it! The only thing to note is a faint line on the front of the sleeve where an invisible crease has caused a lightly visible line of surface wear. This is barely visible in the photos but you will see it if you look hard enough running down vertically to the left of the green woman ! From this detailed appraisal it looks as if I am not trying to sell this record at all! However consider this in context, this is a very good looking lightly played gleaming copy of a rare pressing and one of the best (if not the best) I have seen! EX-/EX- (EX Minus).

Please see the following grading guidelines which I use to grade all media: Items will be described in the following order: Media/Cover (i.e. VG/G+)
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
CD's are similarly graded though the Jewel case is disregarded in grading. The grading applies to the media and the insert. Cassettes will simply be described in their playing condition and are all tested.
