Description

King Crimson – In the Court of the Crimson King – MFSL 1-075 – Pressed in 1982.

This is one of the rarest of all Mobile Fidelity releases. I bought this new sealed and I’ve only played it 4-5 times. Its one of my favourite albums and I thought I had heard everything that could be extracted from the master tapes but, no, as usual the magic of MFSL yields more detail, more background silence and a fantastic sense of “being there”.

Here is the product description printed inside the bi-fold cover:

Half-speed production and mastering by Masteringworks. Specially plated and pressed on High Definition Super Vinyl by Victor Company of Japan Ltd. Special static free dust free inner sleeve. Special heavy duty protective packaging. Source: The Original Stereo Master Tape. Mastered with the Ortofon Cutting System. Manufactured and distributed by MFSL Inc, Chatsworth, CA.

This is very close to “Mint”. I just played the LP all the way through and there were two clicks during “I Talk to the Wind” and a few tiny clicks during “Moonchild”. This is normal for MFSL LPs because they chose not to over-clean the printing metals. Certainly there are no scratches or anything to diminish listening enjoyment. However, I will happily refund if the buyer finds the LP rates less than Ex+ on their system and the LP is returned in the condition it leaves me.

The cover is just like the day I received it – again Ex+. There is a small ding in the bottom right corner of the rear element of the bi-fold sleeve. I’ve tried to capture it in one of the photos.

I can only say that I would be happy if I had just bought the LP from a shop.
