Hello there, come on in and welcome to the auction!

I sell vinyl records with complete honesty and reliability. Above all things I am a record collector and music lover. I only sell records that I would want to receive. I know well the disappointment of receiving an over-graded record that turns up two weeks late. That is not the service you will receive here, so bid with total confidence. I don’t sell a lot of records because I spend a lot of time carefully finding, grading and listing them and do not like to rush this process, as many sellers must do to be able to sell 100 records a week!


I am mostly a collector of old time music, pre-war blues and folk, so buy job-lots that often contain rare records that aren’t to my taste so to ebay they go!

So here we have a beautiful UK pressing of Crimson King’s seminal record.

In the Court of the Crimson King, was released in October 1969. Guitarist Robert Fripp would later describe it as having been "an instant smash" and "New York's acid album of 1970" (notwithstanding Fripp and Giles' claim that the band never used psychedelic drugs). The album received public compliments from Pete Townshend, The Who's guitarist, who called the album "an uncanny masterpiece." The sound of In the Court of the Crimson King (specifically the track, "21st Century Schizoid Man") has also been described as setting the antecedent for alternative rock and grunge, whilst the softer tracks are described as having an "ethereal" and "almost sacred" feel. In contrast to the blues-based hard rock of the contemporary British and American scenes, King Crimson presented a more Europeanised approach that blended antiquity and modernity. The band's music drew on a wide range of influences provided by all five group members. These elements included romantic and modernist-era classical music, the psychedelic rock spearheaded by Jimi Hendrix, folk, jazz, military music (partially inspired by McDonald’s stint as an army musician), ambient improvisation, Victoriana and British pop.

Sleeve Condition.

The unlaminated iconic gatefold sleeve is in superb condition!  There are no stains, splits or writing to mention!  All the edges are straight and crisp with only the very, very mildest shelf wear to corners.  The colours are as vibrant as they were on the day of release.  The spine is perfectly straight and readable as it should be! A really nice clean touching on mint example that is a joy to hold and open!

Inner Condition.

The plain poly-lined white inner with blue text is in superb condition with no rips, tears, writing or splits! Just some mild discolouring to opening edge.

Label Condition.

The smooth Polydor red labels are in superb condition.  There are no rips, rubbing, writing or stains to mention.  There is no centre hole damage at all.  Even under a strong light, not a spindle is visible.

MINT

Vinyl Visual Condition.

The record itself looks beautiful!  It still retains its factory shine and lustre with no scratches or warping at all.  Only 1 ghost like needle line can be seen on side 1 with the lightest of removals visible under a halogen that have no audio playback at all with side 2 being stone mint.  It’s utterly stunning!

Vinyl Audio Condition.

The record sounded great from start to finish.  The sound was sharp and clear with no jumps or skips at all.  The band was clearly separable by the ear on all frequencies!! Even at full volume, ‘Moonchild’ sounded amazing! It’s truly a beautiful sound that you just don’t often get to hear, and is without a doubt the nicest copy I have ever heard! Final Upgrade!

So there we have it. A superb true Minter complete with inner and beautiful rare folding outer sleeve!

All my records are sent first class, tracked and signed for. Where insurance is needed, the cost will be covered by myself. I will endeavour to post all records a day after payment is made.

Records will be sent in defenda-box mailers which are strong corrugate cardboard boxes ensuring that no bending can take place. They are in essence bomb proof!

Records will be sent housed in new poly-lined inners outside of the sleeve to protect both the sleeve and original inner

I hand clean records with Clear groove and a microfiber cloth, however, if you use your own system or machine and would prefer I didn’t, then please ask.
