King Crimson - Lark's Tongues In Aspic - UK First Issue

Selling-up my extensive record collection. Lots of interesting LPs in the collection - do have a look at my other items, and there are new listings every week. I may have obscure things that you didn't even know you wanted!

First issue copy of this enjoyable Crimso album. I have play-tested this - see later.

Cover - is good, but not perfect - some ring-wear, and a crease top left of front. A bit discoloured from age and normal handling - white covers don't usually stay white for forty years! Tiny bits of surface missing top right of front, due to a sticker removal. I don't have the custom paper inner sleeve for this.

Record - Visual inspection - side one has two short scratches, one half-way across, one further in (it's not "banded"). I also see a small patch of something / stain, and another very short scratch, and a long very light one. On side two, a short scratch, and a smear along the grooves, near the start. There's also another pair of short light scratches. Crimso were renowned for their use of "dynamics", i.e. quiet passages followed by very loud passages. This means that the quiet parts are very shallow grooves on the record, and light damage causes noticeable noises in the quiet parts. Knowing that, I have play-tested the whole album. Brief result - it does crackle, sometimes quietly, sometimes more loudly, when the music is quiet - often one or two crackles per revolution, sometimes more. When the music is loud, crackles are very rarely heard. On side one, all three tracks have loud passages, but more quiet than loud. Last track, "Exiles" plays with less crackling. On side two, more loud parts, proportionally - first track is OK in parts, second track is quiet at start but gets loud and stays loud, sounds good. Most of third track is loud, and just has crackles in a few quiet moments. The general sound is excellent, not worn-out, Crimso sound like Crimso. 

Top copies of this are expensive.

I have been collecting records for 50 years (when finances allowed!), and now it's time to sell-up. I bought them mostly around local shops (second-hand), but sometimes from e-bay, and sometimes new, for my favourite bands.

When I'm checking for damage on records, I look at them carefully with my reading glasses on, in good daylight. This method detects any bits of damage that will affect what you hear when listening to it - and lots that are not audible. Using a spotlight or direct sunlight shows more surfacey marks sometimes, but I don't do that - records are for listening to, not trying to see your face in.

Postage at cost within UK - £3.00 plus 50p for a proper record mailer Happy to do combined postage wherever practical.

Dispatch will usually be "next day".

I don't mail things personally, to countries outside the UK - ( I mean it, don't ask) - but I am happy to use E-Bay UK's Global Shipping Program, for sending things abroad. Under this scheme, I send the parcel to an e-bay depot in UK, and they forward it to the overseas buyer.

They have a tracked courier service, for the journey from their UK depot, to the buyer.

This means that I can ONLY accept payments through e-bay (Pay Now button), and I can't send invoices.

E-Bay UK tells me, they do NOT do combined postage in the Global Shipping Programme. Charges to the customer for delivery are whatever you're told they are - if you don't want to pay the postal / courier charges, then do not bid.

International buyers should be able to see a postage cost to their country, you may have to input your location, if your country is included in the scheme.

If your country is not mentioned, please do not bid.

I WILL DEFINITELY NOT post to countries that are not included in the above lists, and I don't send to China.
