Islands (2009 Japanese exclusive limited edition 6-track HQCD [High Quality Compact Disc - playable on all CD players] album, originally released in 1973, superbly presented in mini LP-style flipback card picture sleeve with mini replica gatefold inner sleeve, fold-out Japanese lyric sheet, English lyric/cuttings booklet + obi strip). The HQCD [High Quality Compact Disc] format features enhanced audio quality through the use of a special silver alloy coating, as opposed to aluminium. Using a process developed by optical disc maker Memory Tech, HQCDs are fully compatible with standard CD players.

Larks 'Tongues in Aspic, originariamente pubblicato nel 1973, è il quinto album in studio realizzato dal gruppo progressive rock Inglese dei King Crimson . Questo album è il debutto della terza incarnazione dei King Crimson, con la presenza dell'originale fondatore, del chitarrista Robert Fripp e dai nuovi membri John Wetton (voce, basso), David Cross (violino, Mellotron), Jamie Muir (percussioni), e Bill Bruford (batteria). E'anche un album fondamentale nell'evoluzione della band, attingendo musica classica dell'Europa orientale e con una libera improvvisazione di influenze centrali Europee .
Dopo la transizione di Islands, con LARK'S TONGUES è iniziata la terza fase Crimson che poi si concluse con RED. Il quartetto di David Cross, John Wetton, Robert Fripp e Bill Bruford (aumentato su TONGUES LARK'S dalla presenza del pazzo percussionista Jamie Muir) è considerato il più innovativo delle molte formazioni dei Crimson, offrendo improvvisazioni con contorni netti a un livello senza precedenti. Con il membro fondatore/paroliere, Pete Sinfield,partìto, Robert Palmer-James è intervenuto con un più tagliente e conciso approccio lirico,abbinato all'intransigente precisione strumentale del gruppo.


Larks' Tongues in Aspic is the fifth studio album by the English progressive rock group King Crimson, originally released in 1973. This album is the debut of King Crimson's third incarnation, featuring original member and guitarist Robert Fripp and new members John Wetton (vocals, bass), David Cross (violin, Mellotron), Jamie Muir (percussion), and Bill Bruford (drums). It is also a key album in the band's evolution, drawing on Eastern European classical music and European free improvisation as central influences.
After the transitional ISLANDS, LARK'S TONGUES began the third Crimson phase that ended with RED. The quartet of David Cross, John Wetton, Robert Fripp and Bill Bruford (augmented on LARK'S TONGUES by madman percussionist Jamie Muir) is regarded as the most innovative of Crimson's many lineups, offering hard-edged improvisations on an unprecedented level. With founding member/lyricist Pete Sinfield departed, Robert Palmer-James stepped in with a more cutting, concise lyrical approach that matched the group's uncompromising instrumental precision.

I King Crimson sono un gruppo musicale rock Britannico, fondato nel 1969 a Londra. Spesso classificati come un gruppo prettamente progressive, durante il corso della loro esistenza hanno subito le influenze di diversi generi musicali, tra i quali: jazz, folk, musica classica, musica sperimentale, rock psichedelico, hard rock, heavy metal, new wave, gamelan, musica elettronica e drum and bass. Nello stesso tempo, però, i King Crimson sono riusciti ad influenzare molti artisti contemporanei, creando nel tempo una sorta di culto attorno al loro nome.
