Beautiful strong E condition acoustic Gennett, and probably the most historically significant 78rpm Jazz classic I have ever listed on Ebay. Here is Joe King Oliver and his Creole Jazz Band from April of 1923, playing "Just Gone" and "Canal Street Blues", recorded at the Gennett Studios in Richmond, Indiana. Featured in the Band in his first Recording session and on the first Record released from that session is a young Louis Armstrong Playing Cornet along with King Oliver. Also featured in that historic session was Johnny Dodd's on clarinet, Baby Dodd's on drums, Honore Dutrey on trombone, Lil Hardin on piano, and Bill Johnson on banjo. Payment is by paypal, and shipping will be by USPS priority Mailing. All of my packaging of these fragile 78's is done safely by sandwiching the records between sturdy Cardboard and surrounding it with bubble wrap before placing it in a Cardboard box surrounded by packing peanuts, and the Box is Stamped FRAGILE. I have set and very reasonable opening minimum and No Reserve and will let it go from there. Best of Luck on your bidding.
My grading system is simple
M - I was transported back in time to a record store and purchased new stock and returned to 2017.
M- It looks like new old stock but I can't prove it.
E+ It looks and plays really fantastic, visual grading under light may have detected very minimal light surface scuffs and maybe some tiny surface scratches
E It has been obviously been handled and played a number of times, it may have typical minor scuffs and some surface scratches as you would find on most records of this vintage, but still plays really great
E- , quite a few signs of scuffing and other surface blemishes and scratches but still enjoyable.
G+ A serious collector would turn his nose up at it, but a beginner would jump in, sound quality far from great, starting to fade much more gray and little gloss left, and almost ready for the Old record retirement home.
G Been through a war and looks like it was played 100's of times with worn steel needle, A wall hanger or target practice item, or for those who just wanted to say they have one
