Live at Kelvin Hall

Original OZ LP released in 1968 on Astor Records. Cat: SPLP1217.  

Recorded live in England at Kelvin Hall in the mid-sixties, THE LIVE KINKS opens appropriately with the sound of screaming fans. In performance, two things are immediately clear: first, drummer Mick Avory is an under-heralded monster on his instrument, and secondly, Ray Davies understood a broad tradition of music hall styles, which he coupled with American rock & roll. Anyone who can take an audience from the cheekiness of "Dandy" and the frolicsome musical theater of "I'm On an Island," and then proceed to blow the roof off, singing "You Really Got Me" standing on the top of the speeding locomotive that is The Kinks, is, well, a star. Whether writing songs, recording in the studio, or performing live on stage--this band knew what they were doing and how to get it done on every front.

There are light spindle marks on labels. Record has some light scuff marks that cause a few light crackles and is in Excellent condition. Cover has ring wear, a sticker stain on top left corner and some tiny surface tears around edges and is in VG+ condition.

Wrapping method: All records are sent in stiff cardboard mailers then wrapped in brown paper and sealed around edges with brown packaging tape. Records are taken out of sleeve to avoid seam splits and ring wear.


Post methods within Australia: All records are posted via Australia Post. Within Australia all items come with a tracking number.


Post method for overseas: All parcels are sent via Australia Post and are sent on a standard airmail service. There are no tracking numbers on these items. If you require a tracking number the item will have to be sent as an insured item which incurs a further postage fee.
