Be careful on this one folks..! I can see a number of sellers passing off the 1977 Re-press as 1st Issue. Let me take you through the necessary things to look out for on a genuine UK 1st - cos it makes all the difference. Pay close attention to the interior of the cover and note how the cover of 'Hotter Than Hell' [or any other later title] doesn't show in the bottom right corner of the right hand panel [this is the 1st issue!]. Reissues were printed advertising HTH and are clearly not from '76 The reissues also mention the printing date as 1977. For a genuine 1st issue cover it should be printed by Garrod & Lofthouse and mention the release date as '1976'. The vinyl is on the blue Casablanca label - that's what a genuine 1st should look like. Matrix A1/B1/A1/B1. Stampers 1L/1L/1O/1GD - this is ridiculously early in the EMI sequence. NO other bits and bobs - just two of the original EMI inners.. What you see is what is you'll get.
Vinyl (Ex/Ex+) In super condition and has only seen light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a couple of light marks - only one tiny mark causes a very brief issue [see detail]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT+ level of playback with a couple of deviations. Intros and inbetweens are lovely and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. A great near master copy and the audio seems spot on to my ears. Nice clean signal. All I could detect was a couple of solitary clicks in 'Strutter'. There is a tiny mark later in 'Deuce' which causes a very brief jump/pop. It's over so quickly I'm not sure it's technically a jump - it sounds more like just a pop... and I can't really detect any loss of audio. So, minimal issue in reality - but I do need to be fully upfront on it. Across four sides that's all I could detect. It's a lovely clean player throughout. Even into those occasional acoustic moments - totally clean. Sweet! If you're mad on Kiss - this is gonna be the closest you'll ever get to hearing them live in the seventies.
Cover (Vg+) Lovely clean front and rear with only minor surface handling - better than you typically find. The interior looks superb - no issues. A bit of light edge wear in the odd spot [no biggy]. The openings are still pretty sharp. The text on the spine is fully legible - a crease running down the middle as would be impossible to avoid. Overall the cover retains verygood rigidity.
