Hello!
For your consideration is the blue label promotional copy of Kiss’ debut album (NB 9001), which does not have Kissin’ Time.
This copy also includes an ultra rare first album press kit, which I’ll describe in detail below.
True Kiss 1970’s memorabilia experts can tell you that there was no rhyme or reason as to how the publicity department at Aucoin Management handled the distribution of their promotional press kits. There was also no specific person in charge of assembling them or sending them out.
Some press kits would have 1 promo photo & 2 inserts, and another press kit sent out later that week contained 3 promo photos & 3 inserts. This often depended on the “market” that the Aucoin office was sending a press kit to. It was also common practice for them to make “in house” photocopies of the inserts as well.
The main thing here is that this press kit is absolutely not a modern day reproduction of any kind – I’ve owned it for 20 years, and the collector who sold it to me had it for a long time as well. The promo photos may not be 1st generation photos, but in no way are they cheap modern day reproductions printed on computer paper.
The press kit includes the following:
4-page bio
3 additional pages of inserts which include:
. Circular (Kiss Blitz Fillmore East)
. Rolling Stone & Creem reviews of the first album
. Chicago Tribune Aragon Ballroom concert review
4 promo photos (2 group shots, 1 Ace, 1 Peter)
The inserts and promo photos are in excellent condition.
The record is in Very Good condition with plenty of light scratches/marks on each side – there is nothing feelable that I can detect. Side 1’s label does have a name neatly written on it. The cover has lots of wear, though you could try to remove the masking tape with Un-Du, but that will be the choice of the new owner.
The record has been professionally cleaned on my VPI vacuum machine, and has been placed in a new Japanese poly die-cut inner sleeve. The record will be packed properly with the inner sleeve/vinyl removed from the cover and between 2 stiffeners.
