Just as Kissmania was getting underway in the mid-'70s, Casablanca issued the limited-edition, specially priced box set The Originals. It didn't contain any unreleased or rare material, just a repackaging of Kiss' first three records (1974's Kiss and Hotter Than Hell, and 1975's Dressed To Kill), which made sense since many of Kiss' new fans just owned their hit Alive! and Destroyer albums. Also included was a 14-page booklet that recounted the band's history up until that point, as well as six bio-trading cards and a Kiss Army sticker ("Kiss Army" was the name of the band's fan club). The Originals has been out of print since the late '70s, but is still a much-sought-after collectible among Kiss fans/collectors. And as far as the music goes, all three albums are hard rock classics -- "Deuce," "Black Diamond," "Cold Gin," "Strutter," "Got to Choose," "Parasite," "Hotter Than Hell," "She," and "Rock And Roll All Nite" are among the many highlights. The Originals was not reissued when all of Kiss' albums were remastered on CD in 1997.
