Beethoven: Symphony No. 1 in C major

Symphony No. 8 in F major
(Columbia SAX 2318 UK LP 1959)
This is a UK Stereo 1st pressing LP in nice overall condition! It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve which has a gold circular EMI "Stereophonic" sticker on the front. It has its original generic polythene-lined "Emitex" company inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has turquoise blue & silver "Columbia" labels. These are grooved also. It has 1st press YAX 247-2 and YAX 248-12 matrix numbers.
This is a genuine UK Stereo 1st pressing of this late 1950's UK Classical LP. This is the very earliest UK pressing with grooved labels. "EMI" stopped this is 1960. All subsequent UK pressings have a smooth label design & are not grooved. I have some other rare & collectable 1950's & 1960's Stereo UK 1st pressing LP's for sale. Sleeve: There is some mild or more moderate rubbing wear on the corner tips. There is mild or very mild fading to the "white" of the rear sleeve. There is a very tiny stain at the bottom corner tip area. This only notices on the rear sleeve & spine. There is a 1.5 cm hairline scratch mark on the rear flipback at the spine. This is near the top. There are two very tiny stains & pin-head sized areas of rubbing wear on the spine. Otherwise, the spine is very nice & clean. The spine text is perfectly legible. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear on some areas. Overall, Very Good+ condition.
Vinyl: Firstly, there is a small 2.5 cm hairline scratch mark near the start of Side 2. It hardly notices under a strong light. However, it is visible through a magnifying glass. It feels to the touch slightly and causes some light, mild or very mild clicks per revolution for approximately 30 seconds. It does not jump on my system.
It is a shame because, otherwise, the vinyl appears to be hardly played! It still gleams like new! There are a very few light or very minor sleeve rubs which can barely be seen under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. They are mainly on the dead wax areas. These, again, can hardly be seen under a strong light. The vinyl looks in Excellent+ to Near Mint condition. However, because of the aforementioned hardly visible 2.5 cm hairline scratch mark on Side 2. The record grades in Very Good+ condition. The labels are in Excellent+ condition and show minimal spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & fading. There are no seam splits.
I have play tested this LP in its entirety. As stated, there is a small 2.5 cm hairline scratch mark near the start of Side 2. This causes some light, mild or very mild clicks per revolution for approximately 30 seconds. Please be aware of this when bidding.
Otherwise, it plays Very Good to Very Good+ overall & Near Excellent in many places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the background to a varying degree. This is only really noticeable in the quieter places. It never overpowers the music.
This LP would definitely benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Any crackle is just due to microscopic deep down dirt in the grooves. This has happened over years of storage. As stated, the vinyl appears to be hardly played. It would remove any crackle. Obviously it would not remove the clicks.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this.
NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.
EX Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...
NEAR EX Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing,ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.
VG Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

The dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment. I always remove the inner/ LP from the sleeve & place them, with the sleeve, in a polythene outer sleeve. This will prevent seam splits to the sleeve during the shipping process. I often remove the vinyl from the original inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your records.
