Brahms: A German Requiem
(Columbia SAX 2430 and SAX 2431 UK 2 x LP 1962)
This is a UK Stereo 1st pressing 2 x LP set in excellent overall condition! These are quite rare. I have fully listed & graded both LP's carefully. This includes a thorough playback description too. Please see below:
1. Brahms: A German Requiem (LP 1) (SAX 2430 UK LP 1962)
UK 1st pressing. This LP is one sided only. It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve which has a large sized "Stereo" on the front. It has its original polythene-lined generic "Emitex" company paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has turquoise blue & silver "Columbia" label. As stated, Side 2 is blank. The blank side has "Columbia" logos machine embossed in the vinyl. It has a generic "Do Not Play..." company label. It has 1st press YAX 757-2 matrix number.
Sleeve: There is light, mild or very mild rubbing wear to the corner tips. There is some light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges on some areas. This is not that noticeable. There is a minor 2 cm hairline pen mark on the rear sleeve. This is not too noticeable. The spine is in great condition & shows next to no wear. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear on some areas. NEAR EXCELLENT condition.
Vinyl: As stated, this LP is one sided only. It looks to be near unplayed! It still gleams like new! Next to no sleeve rubs can be seen when viewed under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on a few areas. These can hardly be seen under a strong light. EXCELLENT+ condition. The labels are in Very Near Mint condition and show next to no spindle wear. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good++ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear & fading. There are no seam splits.
I have play tested this LP in its entirety & it plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall, & Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in some places. It never overpowers the music.
2. Brahms: A German Requiem (LP 2) (SAX 2431 UK LP 1962)
UK 1st pressing. It has a heavyweight front laminated flipback sleeve which has a large sized "Stereo" on the front. It has its original polythene-lined generic "Emitex" company paper inner sleeve. The record is pressed on thick vinyl & has turquoise blue & silver "Columbia" label. It has 1st press YAX 758-3 and YAX 759-2 matrix numbers.
Sleeve: There is an extremely small 0.5 cm area of more moderate rubbing wear on the bottom corner tip area at the sleeve opening. This has caused an extremely small 0.5 cm seam split in that area. There is mild or very mild rubbing wear to the other three corner tips. There is light, mild or very mild rubbing wear on the sleeve opening edges. This is not that noticeable. The spine is in great condition & shows next to no wear. There are a couple of tiny pin-head sized stains on the rear sleeve. These hardly really notice. There is some light, very mild or very minor ringwear on some areas. Overall, Very Good++ condition.
Vinyl: It looks to be hardly played! It still gleams like new! Next to no sleeve rubs can be seen when viewed under a strong light. The inner sleeve, over time, has left some light, very mild or very minor dull surface marks on some areas. These can hardly be seen under a strong light. They are mainly on the dead wax areas. EXCELLENT+ condition. The labels are in Excellent condition and show light spindle wear only. The company inner sleeve is in Very Good+ condition. There is some light, mild or very mild ringwear, fading & creasing. There are no seam splits.
I have play tested this LP in its entirety. Side 2 plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall. There is some light, mild or very mild crackle in the background to a varying degree. It never overpowers the music. Side 3 plays Very Good+ to Near Excellent overall & Excellent in some places. There is some light, mild, very mild or very minor crackle in some places. There is some mild crackle at the very end of Side 3 too.
Both LP's would benefit from a deep down groove clean in a professional record cleaning machine. Both records appear to be hardly played. They both gleam like new! They are in Excellent+ condition. Therefore, any crackle is just due to deep down microscopic dirt in the grooves. This is just due to decades of storage. Both LP's, I believe, would be a top audio copy after a professional clean.

MINT Condition = A perfect copy! Almost impossible to find like this.
NEAR MINT Condition = Very nearly mint just slightly under, There may be a very few, very light paper surface sleeve rubs that can hardly be seen under strong light. This disc has been played a couple of times at most. The sleeve is virtually perfect - there is very minimal wear only.
EXCELLENT Condition = A clean & tidy copy that shows minimal defects. There will be light, very mild or very minor surface sleeve rubs. There will be no scratches. The cover will be very nice & clean with maybe minimal creasing, ringwear or edge rubbing wear etc...
NEAR EXCELLENT Condition = You can tell this record has been played a few times, but it has been well cared for. There will be minor surface marks only. The sleeve may have light, mild or very mild creasing,ringwear & very mild rubbing wear to the edges etc.... Overall, it will be a very serviceable copy that you will be pleased with.
Very Good Condition = A well played but very decent overall copy. There will be a few marks on the vinyl, but they won't be nasty scratches, just relatively light needle scuffs and sleeve removal marks, they will be noticeable but won't detract from play too much. Cover will show signs of storage/ ageing, e.g., creasing, slight folding, spinewear, ringwear or sticker tears etc... The record will not be trashed!!

All records will be sent in high quality packaging. All records will be extremely carefully & securely packaged to ensure safe arrival to you. The dispatch time will generally be between 1-3 days after payment. I always remove the inner/ LP from the sleeve & place them, with the sleeve, in a polythene outer sleeve. This will prevent seam splits to the sleeve during the shipping process. I often remove the vinyl from the original inner sleeve & place it in a separate plain paper, or polythene-lined, inner sleeve. I am very conscientious and careful when packaging your records.
