Description
Mendelssohn "A Midsummer Night's Dream", conducted by Otto Klemperer with the Philharmonia Orchestra & Chorus. Heather Harper, Soprano, and Janet Baker, Contralto. UK Columbia SAX 2393, 1961, 1st pressing. Pale blue & silver 'Stereophonic' labels, Stamper nos. 6/5. A superb sounding copy of this wonderful Klemperer performance and recording. Has some light hairlines, which are not detrimental, and the sound is crystal clear with the minimum of background noise. Play tested all the way through using an Audio-Technica AT-96E cartridge with new stylus, fitted to a Rega Planar 2 turntable, through a Pioneer A-400 amplifier and Tannoy speakers.
